Feliz Navidad!

My favorite Christmas memory was when I lived in New York in the mid 90's. All of my twenty-something cousins and I running around my aunt's house like deranged maniacs, my parents, aunts & uncles drunk beyond measure, and the loud ass Dominican Christmas music on blast. No better place than Washington Heights for the holidays. There was this purity in the air. No worries, no stress, no anything. Just love.
This Christmas wasn't as memorable, but I'm still thankful nonetheless. I hope the new year brings you and I peace, love, and the strength to be better human beings.

iLL Random Playlist
My drive home at night is always nice, but tonight's was exceptional. It was 70 degrees, windy; the salty ocean breeze was crisp so you know I rode with the windows down. That wind in my hair is pure goodness. Mmm! The hazy Miami skyline looked so enchantingly gansgta, too.. if that makes any sense. My iPod was obviously feelin' that. I got a nice ass mix...
That drive was the best way to forget about the stress of the day, for real!
PS: I got stopped at a red light while I was still on South Beach and I was jammin so hard to the Wale joint. I almost didn't notice these geeky tourists in a mini-van across the way, bouncin with it and getting all riled up. All I could do was laugh... I must have looked like such a hippy feelin myself in my little green bug.
Stay Classy, Miami.
A Little Weezy

(I can't believe I found a picture of the one I have! It's such an old piece of shit!)
Asthma sucks... Especially when it pops up when the weather's gorgeous outside. Sunny, windy & 70 degrees. I've used that stupid nebulizer more than twice this week and let me tell you, albuterol is nothing to fuck with. I got the shakes so bad I feel like a crackhead after my asthma treatment. You know what's worse?
Now every time I say "weezy", I cringe a little.

Please say da baby.

Song of The Day

Wait, do you see my heart on my sleeve?
It's been there for days on end and
It's been waiting for you to open up...

Remember 7th Grade?

Well, I just don't remember it... Lino found it under my bed. A box full of hundreds of notes, valentine cards, dried rose petals, love letters, party invitations, student IDs, movie & theme park tickets, and more than enough nast-o-grams than anyone can stomach in one day. I created this box at the beginning of 7th grade, right after I moved back to Miami from Dominican Republic. At the time I felt like I needed to keep concrete pieces of my life because it changed so often. Reading them took me to another place... where I can still smell my old, blue, overly-whited-out, Jansport; feel how fucking cold Mr. Garcia's room was right after lunch; and laugh hysterically at people getting unexpectedly smacked with grape juice baggies in Spill Out.
I pretty much created a time capsule in a Nike Air Force 1 box.

The Crystal Ball
Reflect blinding light and create tidbits of beauty all throughout its reach. Purify negativity, flip it into optimism, and yet: remain still. Life hanging by a thin, crimson thread, prominent & regal. Swaying like a pendulum, steady and in time. Never jolting or losing control; transparent yet never overlooked...
Wouldn't it be nice?
Sesame Street
Anyway, here's a video that I've watched repeatedly over the past week solely because of how hard I laugh when I watch it. Thanks, Byron =)

Hi, my name is Gaby and I'm an addict.

A few weeks ago, a bunch of my friends starting going on this Netflix binge with this show called Heroes and how they couldn't stop watching. Pfff.. please, a show? Get over it. It's just TV. I was never inclined to watch. EVER. Anyway, all they talked about was this show and how great it is and I'm like, "OK, wtf is the big deal?". I signed up for Netflix [free for 30 days, holla] and started watching about a few weeks ago. On a weeknight. At 1am. I didn't go to bed til 9am watching the episodes back to back like a fiend. I knew I had to go to sleep but I couldn't! I was BEYOND hooked. Tim Kring [writer/creator/ruiner of lives] found a way to visually crack-infest YOUR BRAIN. I'm addicted to this show. I've watched all of season 1, 2, and 3 in a matter of DAYS. Yes, you're right: no sleep whatsoever... and now I'm freaking out because volume 4 doesn't air until February 2nd.
Whatever.
Save the cheerleader, save the world.

PS: Shout out to Platanos. You know you hold a special place in my heart.

A Tupac Christmas
People love to see the ugly in others... they'd rather bask in someone's misfortune than glorify the beauty in them... isn't that a form of prejection?
My friend, Kang [hi, kangies], says that Tupac's life was a Shakespearean tragedy, and I completely agree. Born into misery, pulling strength from within, completely changing the world with his commandeering persona... he was too good. Too good to be alive for very long. People don't like to be overshadowed... and he overshadowed so many with his glow. Of course, the media embellished his thug appeal... turning his tattoo into the essence of his being. There was so much more to Tupac than him spittin' atrocities into a microphone....
Lino [hi, linooo] sent me this link to Tupac's first MTV interview, which never aired. I've watched it so many times already... each time hurting a little more... to the point of tears. Seriously. Watch for yourself and see what I mean...

I feel him so much on this. For those of us born into nothing, we must create the empire. We must create the prophecy. We must create the dream and live it... If it doesn't start with us, it doesn't start anywhere.

One Word: Beyoncé

Last night at 11:34 PM, the wonderful people at iTunes started my pre-order download of "I Am... Sasha Fierce". I couldn't be more ecstatic. The double disc is a mixture of genuine, emotional soul singing and raw, i-wanna-shake-my-ass-to-this-stuff-all-night kind of material. For us who loves the Bee, this is sheer heaven. The ballads and the wall-thumpers all perfectly placed on one record. If you haven't already, please cop. It's worth it... as if we expected anything less anyway ;)
Oh! and here's the video that made my top 5 fav video list a couple weeks ago... Enjoy!

#1 Reason To Write Off 50 Cent
Rims vs. Housing

I'm sure all of you know how broke we all are, and in times like these, you really learn to value what's important. Food in your fridge, clothes on your back, gas in your car, a roof over your head.... and rims? WTF? I guess some people here in Miami prefer to live in the crevices of their rims than to have a home. No bullshit, as I was driving home, I saw more cars with rims in front of a trailer park than a fucking car show. It was ridiculous. I mean, maybe it's just me?... what do you think?... would you rather have a pimpin car over a decent living space?
